General Chapter: 05.09.2018 afternoon

MVI 7289 1After a long list of final announcements by the vice-president and facilitator regarding the planned pilgrimage to the places where our Founder, Fr. Francis Jordan, was born, at Gurtweil, where he studied, at Sankt Peter, and where he died, at Tafers, as well as several practical issues for the coming days, the floor was given to our General Superior, Fr. Milton Zonta. In his final speech, he stressed the importance of 5 concepts: identity, availability, depth, internationality and creativity. He thanked all persons involved in the preparation and functioning of the General Chapter, as well as in a special way the outgoing members of the Generalate, Fr. Raúl Gómez, Fr. Chris Kowalczyk and Fr. Thomas Malal, who have given the best of themselves at the service of the Society during the past six years. Fr. Milton finished his words, sending a warm fraternal embrace to all confreres, young and old, all over the world. The capitulars then received a nice silver metallic medal with the face of the Founder on one side and of the Savior on the reverse. It is a beautiful a souvenir of the XIX General Chapter.
Then Fr. Hubert Veeser, one of the vice presidents, heartily thanked Fr. Milton for all his efforts during the past 6 years and for being a spiritual guide. And he expressed his best wishes on behalf of the Chapter for the coming term of office.
This last business session was concluded with a warm applause and the song: “Salvator mundi, salva nos”, well known by all Salvatorians.
The nice weather allowed the capitulars to be outside in the evening, while eating grilled meats and sausages as well as enjoying dances by a typical Bavarian dance group.
